In a surprising move the MINI JCW Team has decided to part ways with driver James Vance. Vance announced the news via Instagram.
I unfortunately won't be joining the @miniusa @minijcwteam at @roadamerica ..its part of the industry I suppose the way things work out..I can't thank the team enough for all their amazing hard work and effort getting the program to where it is now, very proud of everyone. A massive thanks to #exposystems and everyone that's supported me to this point. I'm focussed forward to the next opportunity that comes our way! Cheers guys! 🏁 ••••••••• #miniusa #minimotorsport #defylabels #exposystems
Vance joined the team at the beginning of the year driving the #52 and had been improving his results throughout the season as he transitioned to the #37.
Highlights include a second place qualifying effort at Watkins Glen, a race in which he led. But his best race was by far was at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. He ran at the front for his entire stint, turning the car over in 2nd place. The prospects of Vance getting a podium or even a win down line (maybe even this season) looked promising.
Racing is a tough sport and decisions that surprise the fans happen often. We don’t know the reasons for this move, but we hope that the team is headed in the right direction.
The life of a driver takes many twists and turns and we wish James Vance the best. No doubt he will be in another ride soon.
