On this throw back Thursday we revisit last season’s Lime Rock Park race. This was the second straight event that only featured one MINI as the #52 was still being repaired after its heavy crash at Watkins Glen weeks earlier.
With MINI USA’s Vice President David Duncan waving the green flag the team was off and hoping for a good result based on strategy. Zack Meyer opened the race in the #37 MINI JCW and looked to run a clean race while working his way toward the front. The team looked to take advantage of the superior fuel mileage they had over the rest of the field. The goal was to keep Meyer out as long as possible and hope for a full course yellow when it was time for them to pit.

Meyer started in 16th place and worked his way into the top 10 by time the rest of the ST field started pitting under green. Meyer found himself as high as second place by staying out longer. Unfortunately the yellow never came and Meyer was forced to pit under green as his front tires started to wear. Stephen Simpson stepped in to finish the race but found himself in 18th place as he rejoined the field.
Simpson handled himself well, keeping the car clean as he improved positions. In the end he found himself in 14th, an improvement on the teams starting position for the day.
