The 2017 season opener takes place at Daytona International Speedway. The BMW Endurance Challenge is the first of two planned four hour endurance races this year. Something new that IMSA is trying out this season. The events of the BMW Endurance Challenge are spread out over two days with the main event taking place on Friday January 27th.
There will be plenty of time for the team to get the cars right as there are a total of four practice sessions. Qualifying immediately follows the last practice session. I would expect the team to play it safe during that one.
You can watch the race live on IMSA.tv or on the IMSA mobile app. Qualifying will be on IMSA radio and you can keep track of timing and scoring for all events at scoring.imsa.com.
