Mark Pombo made his presence know as he directed his MINI JCW to a second place finish in race one at the Circuit of the Americas.
Pombo quickly moved up from his fifth place starting position into the top two. He raced hard, trying to catch eventual race winner Nick Wittmer but never could quite catch up to him.
Late in the race Pombo held of a hard charging Mazda to earn his first podium in the series.
Nate Noreberg had a good race as well, initially moving up in position before settling into a battle for a top five finishing position. He would eventually cross the line in seventh place.
Look for our full race report soon. But don’t forget there’s still one more race this weekend which takes place tomorrow.
