Race one at Sonoma is in the books and Mark Pombo brings home yet another podium finish for the MINI JCW Team.
Pombo started the race in fourth place and moved up to second within minutes of the start of the race. He held down the lead for the next 15 minutes before pole sitter Maxson in the 74 Mazda retook the lead.
Pombo pushed hard throughout the event, closing to within a second of the leader but wasn’t able to retake the lead and finished in second place.
The podium finish is Pombo’s third of the season.

He ran as high as third for a large portion of the race before settling for a fourth place finish.
